Johnny's birthday landed on a Sunday which is lucky for him, we got to celebrate the entire weekend. I started it off on Friday where I surprised him for lunch at school. This was fun and for a moment I felt bad for forbidding my parents to ever come eat lunch with me at school.) Johnny was really excited to see me and already I can tell he thinks he runs that school. Walking in the cafeteria, waving to all of his friends, people calling his name it was like we were at our Publix. LOL It was good to meet his class and see all the girls he has been talking about, aka the kissing mob. While I was there I was happy to see him hold the door for the ladies and offer to open the water for the little girl next to him. (She informed me he always opens her water, oh lord) no wonder the girls love him. I really wish I could do lunch with him more, its fun to see your child in different environments.
Johnny decided he wanted a Lego party. Ah, Lego's my biggest enemy. I hate all of your tiny pieces and how unorganized you become. Plus how were we going to party with Lego's? There can be no battles, or sword fights no super powers or climbing. This was going to be tricky, probably why I put off planning it until the day before. A pinata is always a hit, and after searching the country and every party shop I realized all I got was the instructions on a DIY Lego pinata. So Saturday morning started with the construction of a Lego pinata. Really you have no excuse when Pinterest is there with the step by step instructions. And honestly I was pretty proud of my blue Lego brick I made for under 1.00, and Johnny thought it was awesome.
So good, we then packed a picnic and took it to the park to enjoy the AMAZING weather we have been having! Saturday night we met up with the Gold's for sushi, yes that is what Johnny requested for a birthday dinner. He told me he has always wanted to try it, yea I don't think he will be ordering it again for a long time.
We did presents and cake and then all went to the Gwinnett County Fair. I don't know if it was just birthday luck but Johnny is really good at carni games. He won a fish and a little stuffed dog within the first 10 min. We rode rides, ate junk food and people watched. It was a great way to celebrate his birthday.
Finally Sunday, he woke up to streamers and happy birthdays. It was like Christmas morning when he went downstairs to open his presents. Man that boy is spoiled, he racked up on Lego's, DS games, baseball cards, compound bow and arrow oh and an Ipad from Poppy and Gigi. Yes spoiled. And it hadn't even been his party yet.
We did a low key party at the park, the kids got there and ate and played. Then all received the pieces to make there very own Lego car. It was pretty cool to see how creative all the kids are. The cars turned out great and then of course they had to be raced. Then pinata time. I was worried to see how my hard work would hold up, convinced it would only make it through Johnny we let him go first. Turns out the kids went through the line twice and John had to break it. Inside was a surprise Lego guy to go with their car. The rest of the time they went crazy on a sugar high just playing and having fun. I think Johnny had a great birthday.
I have heard since Johnny was a baby, everything you teach them until the age 5 shapes and forms the person they will be in life. I know that there is still time for Johnny to learn, heck I learn life lessons every day. But I am pretty proud of the kid he is right now.
